Polyurethane Laminate
Polyurethane laminate (or “PUL”) is generally a polyester or cotton fabric that has been coated with a thin film of clear polyurethane on the back (wrong) side of the fabric. This creates a waterproof fabric that can be stretchy and breathable. This is useful in the production in bedding, as it can provide a waterproof barrier, while allowing proper air flow. Polyurethane laminates are one of the more expensive applications.
Poly Vinyls
PVC or “Poly Vinyls” are fabrics that are completely waterproof but they have no ability to wick moisture or breath without the addition of exterior vents or mesh panels. PVC’s are generally used in the less expensive applications.
